Since I'm in India, I've restored my 'old code' (Texture and Object Generator). I've seen that my old code was almost finished, so I just retouched it a little bit, and prepare to release it for distribution (source code will be soon ready!).

Some years ago I already advised how the new model of object generation is working. Instead of using a single texture, now I use what I called a Texture Library, so you can use and reuse, the same texture without any size impact (and in a more efficient way).
The actual procedure that you need to do is:

1. TextGen (ZNT): Create the ZNT texture(s), save to disk each texture.
2. TextGenLib (ZNT->ZNL): Pack all your desired textures in a single Library file.
3. ObjGen (ZNL->ZNO): Open a library file, and use the textures for generating the object!!

In ObjGen you can upload only one single Library file per object, but you can upload it multiple times, so you can try with different libraries, using the same object. Sounds weird, but is fun :)

Now you have the tools! are you asking for the code?? well, I've to solve some things (some code is dirty...), but if you send me a mail, I'll be pleased in give it to you :)

Llarga vida a la PS2!

Enmig de consoles de última generació i consum nadalenc desmesurat en època de crisi, ha caigut a la meves mans una PS2 que estava oblidada a un armari i m'he posat a trastejar amb ella. Al principi li he posat el de sempre, el HDLoader, un HD de 60Gb, targeta a xarxa... i al vicio!
Però al cap de uns dies, entrant per un foro vaig veure que ha sortit una meravellosa aplicació que es diu FreeMCBoot, que ve a substituir el boot de la PS2... increïble vamos! A més s'instal·la a la memory card (ocupa uns 1,6Mb) i no fa falta arrancar amb cap disc de PSX ni tenir xip, ni coses rares.
Una vegada arranca el nou boot, apareix un menú amb les opcions típiques de la PS2 (Navegador i Configurar el sistema), més totes les aplicacions adicionals que haguem instal·lat: HDLoader, uLaunchELF, ESR, etc... tot molt bonic!

Per si fos poc, corren milers de tutorials i paquets ja preparats per instal·lar amb les aplicacions més útils. Jo en destaco la uLaunchELF (per executar ELF's [inclús desde pen drive]), ESR (per jugar a jocs desde DVD-R [prèviament parxejats]), Simple Media player (un reproductor de videos!!! i de moment, bastant bo!!) i HDLoader (como no! per jugar als jocs desde el HD).
Amb aquestes aplicacions convertireu la vostra PS2 en tot un centre multimèdia (bueno, bonito y barato), i a més podreu veure demos que hagueu gravat en un PenDrive (jo per fi he vist la "Aura for Laura" en temps real! brutal!!), jugar a un porrón de jocs que hi han al mercat (Zone of Enders, Katamari, God of War, Metal Gear, Gran Turismo)...

En fi... useu el coco i reuseu el hardware! :D

La Mala llet de la gent

Últimament estic cansat de la mala llet d'algunes persones, tots amb chismorreos de "què ha dit aquesta persona", o "què a fet aquella altra", buah, no puc mes i estic fart, a veure si la gent es deixa de tonteries i es preocupa mes per ser feliç ell mateix!
Jo mateix reconec que a vegades m'agrada comentar alguna que altra xafarderia, però últimament ja és massa, no se què passa últimament que tothom sembla que s'hagi convertit en editor del HOLA o algo aixi! A veure si ho enteneu tots de una vegada: deixeu-vos de subtileses, foteses, malentesos, mals rotllos, i demés xorrades, perque no van amb mi.
Els que em coneixen saben que no m'agrada anar amb segones, i que soc directe i ho dic tot tal i com raja. I si algú li senta malament, mala sort.

I ara... a continuar barrallant-me amb el SDK del iphone!

Avui estava per cotxeres i he agafat uns DVD's de curts de la Marató de cinema fantàstic i de terror que es celebra cada any... i m'ha picat la curiositat per veure pelis 'cutres i de sang', tipus 'el vengador tóxico', 'reanimator', etc... i ves per on, youtube ha saciat la meva sed (i sobradament, per cert), amb la peli mes cutre i amb mes sang i fetge que he vist mai: Machine Girl!!! Una peli japo, que bueno... l'argument és el de menys!!

Pink box testing

Some years ago (1999?ish) I was in a job where I needed to bring in a lot of software contractors in a short space of time. As a result I ended up dealing with a good number of IT contracting agencies. To help the process I wrote very specific job / task descriptions, and sent these to all agencies.

Generally I would receive agency-specific CVs, where they had reformatted the candidate?s CV, and in places tweaked the content. Over time it became clear that some agencies certainly did a lot more than reformatting, adding things they thought I wanted to see. This was really annoying, as the fabrication would reveal itself at some point in the process, sometimes after wasting time on a candidate.

We needed a software tester, and while writing the task description I decided to see how far the agencies would go. The descriptions all had a section listing required skills and experience, and another listing desirables. In the required section I listed ?Pink box testing experience?. There?s no such thing as Pink box testing (see below) - I made it up to see if I received any CVs with pink box testing listed.

Sure enough, a week or so after putting out the description, I received a CV for a software tester. He clearly had a lot of relevant experience, but the agency had added pink box testing as one of his strengths (it was an agency modification, not a claim of the candidate). It was fun ringing up the agent and explaining that he?d been caught in my trap, and listening to him trying to weasel his way out.

No such thing as Pink Box testing?

I can?t remember exactly when this was, but from my memory is was most likely 1999 or early 2000. At the time I did a quick web search to see if there was any such thing as pink box testing, and a quick skim of my testing books. Certainly didn?t seem to be at that time. As several commenters have pointed out, there are (now) several valid definitions of pink box testing, not all of them appropriate for polite conversation.

The term ?pink box? was clearly relevant to phone phreakers at that time, so the term ?pink box testing? made sense in at least that context, but in the context of software testing it didn?t.
